2025 Seminar Schedule

February 6th –Beginning Vegetable Garden- Learn how to start a simple & manageable vegetable garden.
February 13th – Lawn Care – Let’s talk how to manage your lawn, when to apply what products, what to expect problem wise, and maintenance practices.
February 20th – 10 Trees and 10 Shrubs– A look at a few plants that do well in Lawrence, their attributes, and where to plant them.
February 27th – Vegetable Gardening Cold Crops– How to grow cold season vegetables (think broccoli, cabbage, lettuces, potatoes, kale). Which ones depends on a vote from the workshop attendees.
March 6th– Weed ID & Control– Learn about weeds that could be in the lawn, the flower beds, or even in the sidewalk. What they do and how to control them.
March 13th– Raised Beds-Learn about different types of raised beds as well as what media to put in it for maximum results.
March 20th– Growing Tomatoes-Learn how to grow a great tomato whether it be a cherry or a beefsteak, in the ground, or in a container.
March 27th– Fruit Tree Trimming- Learn how to prune cherries, apples, peaches & pears for fruit production. This seminar will be held outdoors with a demonstration. (weather permitting)

April 3rd – Berries – Let’s talk Blueberries, Raspberries, and Blackberries. If enough time and interest, even Strawberries. Part of this Seminar will be held outdoors with a demonstration.
April 10th-Containers I– Learn how to grow flowers & vegetables in containers. What varieties work best. What soil to use and how to care for them to create a showstopper. *(See Saturday seminars for part II).
April 17th– Top 10 Annuals & Perennials-Learn about some of our favorite annuals & perennials & how to incorporate them into your landscape.

March 1st– Creating a Pollinator Garden 101– Learn what it takes to create a garden that the Bees & Butterflies will love.
March 8th– Planting Trees and Shrubs– Want to plant a tree but are afraid you will mess it up. We’ll go over how to plant and then even go outside and plant one.
March 15th– Growing Tomatoes– Learn how to grow a great tomato whether it be a cherry or a beefsteak, in the ground, or in a container.
March 22nd – Vegetable Gardening Warm Crops– How to grow summer vegetables. 4-5 different summer vegetables to be discussed (think peppers, eggplants, melons, cucumbers, squash). Which ones depends on a vote from the workshop attendees.
