2024 Seminar Schedule
Thursday Night Seminars 6:30-7:30pm + time for questions Seminars are FREE but space is limited, so please RSVP by calling (785) 842-3081.
February 1st –Seed Starting– Learn how to start your own seeds, what seeds work best to start indoors, & when to start them. Typically, we focus on starting annuals & vegetables from seed.
February 8th – Houseplants– Learn what plants work in what type of situations & how to care for them.
February 15th – Vegetable Gardening Cold Crops– How to grow cold season vegetables (think broccoli, cabbage, lettuces, potatoes, kale). Which ones depends on a vote from the workshop attendees.
February 22th – Vegetable Gardening Warm Crops How to grow summer vegetables. 4-5 different summer vegetables to be discussed (think peppers, eggplants, melons, cucumbers, squash). Which ones depends on a vote from the workshop attendees.
February 29th– Issues 101– What’s wrong with _______? How to identify & treat disease, deficiencies, insects, etc.
March 7th– Growing Tomatoes-Learn how to grow a great tomato whether it be a cherry or a beefsteak, in the ground, or in a container.
March 14th– Containers I– Learn how to grow flowers & vegetables in containers. What varieties work best. What soil to use and how to care for them to create a show stopper.*(See Saturday seminars for part II).
March 21st– Raised Beds-Learn about different types of raised beds as well as what media to put in it for maximum results.

March 28th– Fruit Tree Trimming- Learn how to prune cherries, apples, peaches & pears for fruit production. This seminar will be held outdoors with a demonstration. (weather permitting)
April 4th– Herbs 101- Growing and Storing Herbs. Learn the basics of growing an herb garden. From site selection & soil preparation to harvesting & using.
April 11th– Creating a Pollinator Garden 101– Learn what it takes to create a garden that the Bees & Butterflies will love.
April 18th– Top 10 Annuals & Perennials-Learn about some of our favorite annuals & perennials & how to incorporate them into your landscape.

March 2nd– Beginning Vegetable Garden- Learn how to start a simple & manageable vegetable garden.
March 9th– Growing Tomatoes-Learn how to grow a great tomato whether it be a cherry or a beefsteak, in the ground, or in a container.
March 16th– Containers II– Hands-on workshop! Create your own container garden. $55 sign-up fee for up to 12’’pot. Includes soil, 6 plants, starter fertilizer & soil moist. Pots >12’’ $ based on pot size. Bring your own pot or purchase one from us.
